They show you horror images because you are a smart movie buff, you don't believe it and wait for the suspense to get revealed. It's a sign of an intelligent movie viewer who easily don't believe in spilled stuff and rather likes to wait for intriguing turnarounds. That film provides it by the perfect use of Psychological medical terms so while watching Pizza you also wish there would be something logical at the end to cover all the unrealistic loopes. Remember, Malayalam Classic 'Manichitrathazu'? Even that belongs to horror genre but as we all know it's not a real thing so we start finding logic into it. Pizza is horror film but we all know that there's nothing like ghosts and all so we start finding solid reasons for it. So better leave it UNSOLVED and that's what it means here. Actually, we all have been through it with many comedy films over the years but just didn't think that it could mean something intricate like this. Grab a slice of Pizza, it?s yummy.While most of the new-age films are related to drama, comedy and sci-fi, débutante Karthik is a guy from whom I will expect more thrilling movies. On the whole it is a film which is entertaining and at the same time different in its approach. The supporting cast of friends and owner of the restaurant Adukalam Narain, Pooja makes it creepy and interesting. Vijay Sethupathy is the right choice as the pizza delivery boy and he shines while Ramya Nambisan is endearing as the cunning Anu. Why go on dragging the paranormal activities in the bungalow in the first half, with scenes being repeated? On the downside you can see red herrings towards interval point. Technically the film is good with Gopi Amarnath the cameraman able to create the required dread and editing of Leo John Paul which increases the anxiety. Dwelling further on the story and packaging would be a spoiler. The last 10 minutes with a stunning ending have all the answers which you were seeking in the 127 minute film. But Karthik has been able to create the adequate dread and suspense in the mind of the audiences ? Is Michael hallucinating or is he telling the truth? The director seems to be heavily influenced by Manoj Night Shyamalan and his type of films of ?seeing dead people?, with several nods to The Sixth Sense and Shining.
The background score and music of Santosh Narayan ( Attakathi fame) is a major plus.
